Jing and Ming
By Michael Domino
She told me that her Chinese name is Jing.

I said, "That's nice, what does it mean"

She whispered that Jing means Quiet.

I looked at her as she handed back my change.

Then she said "My Father gave me my name, at birth."

I thought for a while… before I spoke up again.

"What is your place in the family?" I asked Jing.

Jing smiled shyly, "I'm the number 2 daughter."

My Sister was first born and my Mother named her Ming.

I then asked. "What is the translation of Ming?"

"Busy and Noisy", said Jing. We both smiled and then I
left.
